Between the 21st to 25th August 2025, ALSA Thailand had the honor of participating in the annual ALSA Forum, which this year was graciously hosted by ALSA Indonesia in the vibrant city of Yogyakarta.
What is ALSA Forum?
The Annual Forum serves as ALSA’s flagship event, uniting members from all national chapters to participate in a series of academic and non-academic activities. Each year, the privilege of hosting the Forum is rotated among the national chapters, allowing the event to take place in different countries across Asia. More significantly, the Forum marks the commencement of ALSA’s new office term, featuring the Annual General Assembly, in-person Governing Council Meetings, and the election of the International Board.
At Yogyakarta
Yogyakarta is a historic city in Indonesia that welcomes visitors with rich culture, vibrant cuisine, and warm people. After arriving on Day 1 and trying local dishes, Days 2 and 3 were spent in the hotel for the GCM, delegate discussions, and ALSA International Board elections. Day 4 finally let us explore the city—tasting amazing food, touring the iconic Prambanan Temple, and enjoying a memorable dinner on Jalan Malioboro with ALSA Indonesia before departing on Day 5.
Building friendships across borders (divided by borders, united by ALSA)
Undeniably, the highlight of international ALSA events like this ALSA Forum is the friendships and connections we were able to make while participating in the activities. It is a rare opportunity for law students from across Asia to gather in one place, connecting effortlessly and exchanging meaningful experiences. At the end of the day, ALSA unites us, turning our diverse backgrounds into a shared strength.
